OK, I must say that when I saw how fabulous the June issue of Essence turned out, I was kind of speechless. I still am.
For the record, yours truly nabbed the cover story (along with a salute to celebrity dads and a little fashion feature with Tia Mowry) but really, the process of getting it all done nearly drove me to a very, tall glass of vodka – no juice, just ice. And I don’t even drink like that.
After a bunch of frantic phone calls and e-mails with publicists, a few all-night transcribing sessions and about five missed deadlines (it wasn’t all my fault, really it wasn’t), I realize, yet again, that you’ve got to put in the work if you want to yield something beautiful. Did I mention that the cover story photos are breathtaking? Big up to Cliff Watts, all day!
The issue is on the newsstand now and I’d be so thrilled if you’d go pick up a copy…or maybe, all three!
