I dug Tim Russert and like so many other people, was really shocked to hear the news of his untimely passing. 58? Wow.
Oddly enough, I was tuned into CNN watching the coverage of the R. Kelly trial debacle (I mean, what the hell?) when in came a breaking news story. With local news in LA, “breaking news” is usually something like a car chase or some celeb-driven nonsense, but when the folks behind the CNN news desk say that something’s up, I know it’s not a game.
It’s almost surreal when those who deliver the news actually become the news. Aside from feeling sad for Tim’s family, yet also a bit happy that he got to see his kid graduate from college, I thought it rather interesting that he didn’t live to see who’ll make it to the White House. He so thrived on politics…who knows, perhaps he’ll be watching the polls from wherever he is.
Here’s hoping he had a safe journey.
