Last week, I got a chance to screen Seven Pounds<\/span> and tonight, I saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. <\/span> These folks are gunning for Oscars.<\/p>\n

A fellow journalist told me that she found Seven Pounds<\/span> to be depressing, but I didn’t have that same feeling. I was moved, definitely, but I didn’t shed a tear. As corny as it might sound, the movie got me to thinking about life…and of, course, one’s purpose. Perhaps I carried those thoughts with me into the theater showing Benjamin Button<\/span> tonight because I wiped my eyes a few times. I even cried on my drive home as Jill Scott sang Wanna Be Loved<\/span>.<\/p>\n

I have tons more movies to see before Oscar time – including Slumdog Millionaire<\/span> and Wrestler<\/span>, both of which I’ve heard are quite amazing – but for now, I’m sweating Will<\/a>, Brad<\/a> and Cate.<\/a> Oh, and although I’ve still not forgiven her for scream-singing It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp<\/span> at the ceremony two years ago, I would be remiss if I didn’t give major props to Taraji P.<\/a> for her turn as Benjamin’s mother, Queenie.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
