In my case, it wasn’t just a simple “scroll-through.” It was more like full-on immersion. Actually, I think engrossed might be a better word.

That said, it was not a pretty scene. That kind of personal violation makes you wonder what people’s motivations really are. Are they mildy-curious about what’s going on in your life? Perhaps they’re just nosey as hell. Or do they simply not have anything going on in their lives? Who knows? I don’t. And I don’t care. I was pissed. Still am.

Regardless of the reason for the transgression, I am not too sure what the next step is. I doubt if I’ll get an apology and for some reason, I’m cool with that. There’s really no point in having people in your life who cannot be trusted. Wasn’t it Maya Angelou who said that when people show you who they are, believe them? Yeah, those were Maya’s words and I think I will take her up on her advice.

Speaking of Maya, I think I’m finally going to spend my summer reading her entire collection of autobiographies. It’s a goal that I’ve been trying to achieve for too many summers to admit here, but I’m determined to do it this year. I read “I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings” so long ago that it’s all a bit fuzzy and if I recall correctly, I’ve only skimmed through the rest. They’re all sitting here on my bookshelf, just waiting for me to get into gear. I’m ready!

Also, Anne Lamott’s new book, “Imperfect Birds” is out this month.
I.
Cannot.
Wait.
To.
Get.
My.
Copy.

April 2010 Life Lesson #1:
NEVER leave your unlocked phone unattended.

April 2010 Life Lesson #2:
ALWAYS read great books!

This past weekend, someone whom I consider(ed) a friend violated my privacy in a way that is still quite unbelievable to me.
