How could the summer almost be over? Like, really?<\/em><\/p>\n

It’s only in the last week or so that the sun has been rising and shining at a reasonable hour (say 7am, instead of noon!) and although I wiggled my toes in the fabulously-blue waters of my cousin’s pool last month, I’ve not officially swam<\/em> in chlorine or salt water yet. It just doesn’t seem fair. But then again, I remember my fifth grade teacher, Ms. Kramer, always reminding my class that “Life’s not fair!” whenever we whined about something that she could care less about. I can still see her swinging her Dorothy Hamill-esque coif for emphasis. She was both hilarious and rather clairvoyant.<\/p>\n

So, as I brace myself for the impending season change, I thought I’d rattle off a few random thoughts that have been running through my mind as of late. Nothing too deep, just thought I’d share…<\/p>\n

el debarge –<\/strong>
\nMet him at a press dinner a few weeks ago. Am so excited that he’s back and enjoying his “Second Chance.” His first album in 16 years will be out on September 28th. What a triumph!<\/p>\n

eat, pray, love –<\/strong>
\nI have a bit of literary guilt because the book bored me to sleep, but I really want to see the movie (yes, I kinda dig Julia Roberts). Honestly, I’m surprised that it didn’t kill at the box off last weekend.<\/p>\n

own –<\/strong>
\nI’m really excited about Oprah’s burgeoning network (well, I was…), but I’m rather confused as to why there’s so much trouble with staffing and programming. Did a former employoee just sue for discrimination? C-R-A-Z-I-N-E-S-S!<\/p>\n

trey songz –<\/strong>
\nI will admit that I’m not totally sold on him being the next, big thing, but I totally love him now after watching his reality show, which oddly enough, was the lowest-rated of it’s kind on BET. Sadly, it seems that he might have faired better with viewers if he’d had some drama with a baby momma (or two, or three).<\/p>\n

undercovers<\/em> –<\/strong>
\nHave seen the pilot (and interviewed Boris…check October newsstands!) and although the show’s not great (yet!), I will<\/em> be tuned in every week, trust. What a beautiful man.<\/p>\n

bernadine, savannah, gloria & robin –<\/strong>
\nI’m really interested to read where life took Terry McM’s four lady friends from “Waiting to Exhale.” Initially, I thought about begging for an advance copy of the follow-up, “Getting to Happy,” but I think I’ll wait until September 7th. After all, it is rather nice to have something to look forward to, including chick lit!<\/p>\n

unsung –<\/strong>
\nIt’s back, on TVOne, on September 13th. This season kicks off with a posthumous profile on Teddy Pendergrass. Then there’s Miki Howard, Tammi Terrell, The Fat Boys…why can’t I remember who else? Oh, and also George Clinton, who I worked with during my record company stint. He was a gang of fun. In fact, I think I might still have a contact high!<\/p>\n

sushi, forever<\/em>! <\/strong>
\nIf I could, I would be at the sushi bar every, single day. I’ve said it before, but now I think it’s about time that I finally admit that I might have a slight<\/em> addiction. That being said, perhaps I’ll have some spicy tuna, tonight! This week has been pure bruatlity and I think I deserve it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
