Made a post office run and a quick Starbucks drive-by before heading to the booth this morning. It would have been great if the powers-that-be could’ve suspended alternate side of the street parking restrictions, but I figured, “Hey, this historical day is worth me taking a walk up and down a hill!”
As the EastCoast polls are just about closed, I suppose my evening will be spent in front of the tube, switching between MSNBC and CNN. So, far Barack has nabbed Georgia and is projected to take Illinois!
When Bill C. was voted in a for a second term in ’96, my grandmother was ill and couldn’t make it down to vote. I remember how disappointed she was, but I assured her, “Don’t worry, I voted for both of us.” She smiled. Now, 12 years later, I can only imagine the pride she would feel to know that a Black man (and a woman) have a real shot at sitting in the Oval office.
