Our society’s obsession with celebrity culture has been wrecking havoc on my nerves for a long while now. I, for one, can admit that I know more about people who I don’t even know than I do a few of my friends. We all do. It’s really becoming a bit much.
That said, I found this US Weekly cover of Lindsay Lohan to be particularly disturbing. I haven’t read the story, but online reports suggest that she actually participated, willingly, in the story…via e-mail and phone calls, during which she was weeping.
This girl is clearly in need of help, but it seems that “they” won’t be happy until they’re reporting on her funeral arrangements. Then what?
On the flip-side, I should mention that there are a number of Hollywood types who’ve been known to court the media. Many thrive off of a steady stream of attention. Maybe Lindsey will have the last laugh in the long run…who knows?
