At this very moment, my sole mission is to stay focused on enjoying every second, minute, hour and day of Summer 2011. With that said, I should also admit that I feel just awful about my much-to-be-desired blogging schedule, but honestly, I’ve been a busy – living, tanning, outdoor dining, traveling (a bit), teaching my friend’s kids the fine (though, utterly ridiculous!) art of planking, connecting with folks from yesteryear while mourning the loss of a dear, family friend and as per my usual, trying to make sense of it all. Note to self: the latter is clearly going to take longer than three, summer months to figure out!
Now that I’ve cleared my conscience, I must make mention of my new, favorite book, of which I’ve just turned the last page about two hours ago. Exquisitely-written by Tayari Jones, Silver Sparrow explores the murky, mysterious world of family secrets. Bottom line, nobody ever really wins, but you’ve got to read it for yourself. I couldn’t put the book down. Hopefully, you’ll feel the same way.
Shamefully, I’ll admit that I’ve still not caught up with all of my Maya Angelou, which was my Summer 2010 promise to myself. But it’s only the first week of July, so I’ve still got some time to get up to speed on her collection, right? Right?
